faith was the one to bring it up. it was a film - not a movie, she said, it was not a movie - that she had heard of. an urban legend is what you wanted to call out, but her eyes were sharp, her facts were straight, and she wasnt the kind to bet on a losing game. so instead you were left with a gun on a table. an act that fell halfway between a threat and a taunt though no one would know if it was loaded until they reached to pull the trigger.

the conversation shifted like the roll of the tides without consideration given to what shes had laid out. you hadnt, or shouldnt as you know intimately, had looked away. even when she catches your eyes with a silver-sun glint and a smile. it would never end well.
